Deborah and I are parents. We are young parents nonetheless we are parents. In our house we try to live by a certain family code. In this code we have absolutes that will not be broken no matter how busy we get. We trust the wisdom found in the Bible when it comes to parenting. We are truly trying to train up our children in the way they should go and when he is older he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).
As parents it is our responsibility to train our children in the way they should go. Our kids’ future will directly reflect the decisions and choices we make in their training today. This is something that WE take very seriously. Being a parent to my kids is the most intimidating yet rewarding thing. God has placed three beautiful children in our care and under our training.
In reading the Old Testament you cannot help but see generational blessings being passed down from the father to the kids. This shows me that as a father I have to invest into my kids. I have to speak life into them and speak God’s blessing over them. I have to be and am totally invested into my kids.
SO HERE IT IS|| Cody and Deborah’s Training Camp (TOP 3)
—->We are teaching them how to obey and hear God’s Voice
We teach our kids that there are consequences both positive and disciplinary for the actions we take. When they obey mom and dad it is teaching them to obey Gods voice. We talk about what we are believing God for, in front of our kids. We invite them into our walk with God- the good, the bad and the ugly.
—->We are teaching them how to pray
We pray with our kids every night- no excuses. We have them say a prayer. This shows them that talking to God is not just for mommy and daddy. God is accessible to them, now! Then we say a prayer over them. This is when we pray for the Holy Spirit to guide them, for the blessing of God to be on them, for protection to go before them, for peace to be in them and health to follow them.
—->We are teaching them how to worship
We go to church (PERIOD). We want our kids to learn how to worship God in their local church. Their classroom teachers play worship songs and they get to dance and run around and sing and worship God. We worship at home. We plug the iphone in and jam out. Run around the living room-sing our hearts out-and by the end they are begging for one more song. Our kids love to worship God and I enjoy the work out.
There are many other things we are teaching them. Here was a consolidated list of three. What are some ways you are training your kids or what are some ways you hope to train your kids of the future.
