I am a father. I have three kids. I love my kids very much. My kids can experience the blessings that come with “just” being my kids or they can unlock a favor that will produce blessing in their lives that they cannot contain. As a father it is in my nature to see my kids walk in blessing. They make choices that unlock different levels of my blessing. In my discipline they can still find themselves eating M&M’s however when they unlock the complete uninhibited blessing they will find themselves eating ice cream, brownies, sprinkles and topped with M&M’s.
This is all because they call me dad. My children get my blessing because they call on the name that unlocks this blessing- “DAD”.
If God created this attitude in me as a father what do you think his attitude towards His children is? As His child I know we can walk in the blessing of God just because I am His child. But I have seen a difference in God’s blessing and in His divine favor. His blessing is always there because we are His kids. The divine favor of God has to be called out and walked in.
In Numbers 6 we are introduced to the Priestly prayer of Aaron. This prayer asks for God’s favor and blessing. The reason this prayer was so important to the Hebrew people is because it unlocked God’s favor on their nation. The priestly prayer of Aaron invoked the very name of God to be present. By invoking the name of God they invoked the favor of God on their lives as well.
The same is true with us today. We have a choice of whose name to invoke in our lives. When we use our own strength then we are actually invoking our name. It is hard to see God’s divine favor in our lives when we are operating in our own strength. When we invoke the name of the Lord into our lives than we unlock the divine favor that name comes with. By invoking the name of God we invoke the favor of God on our lives.
I see it more clearly now that I have kids. As I mentioned earlier as a father it is in my nature to bless them. When their actions are contrary to my direction the blessing looks different in their lives. They have made a choice to walk in their own wills. My nature hasn’t changed but their ability to receive the fullness of my blessing.
We can walk in the Priestly prayer of Aaron found in Numbers 6. We too can walk in the divine favor of God. We don’t have to go through life worrying if God is going to bless us- we can simply invoke His name and unlock his divine favor.
The divine favor of God is like a rushing river. When it enters into your life you will not miss it. It will overtake you. There is a peace that surpasses all understanding and a blessing that cannot be stopped.
LORD may you put your name on my life!
Numbers 6:22-27And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel. Say to them: “The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”’ “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”
How to unlock God’s Divine Favor:
1. Invoke His Name
2. Obey His Leading
3. Walk in His Favor
