Appetite for Violence

Have you ever heard the phrase “silence is golden…but duct tape is silver”? I have wanted to use duct tape many times to silence…myself. People just like to talk. We can talk about anything we know a little bit of information on. We can praise people and then in the same breath tear someone down. Is this being faithful with our mouth or we in fact adulterating ourselves by being double minded with our words and what comes out of our mouth.

This kind of living produces an appetite for violence. When we adulterate against speaking life and consciously chose to produce violence with our lips this violence penetrates our most sacred spaces in our hearts. What started out as a story, turns into gossip, what turns into gossip, sows a seed of death, when we get the appetite for death, destruction becomes our path, when destruction becomes our path, then our appetite is for continued violence.

Proverbs 13:3- “Those who guard their lips preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly will come to ruin.”

An appetite of violence will only become our ruin. SO….

Do you want to preserve your life or ruin it? Maybe duct tape isn’t so bad after all…metaphorically speaking!
