I have a 2yr old son. Whenever he wants to tell me something he will talk and talk and talk until he gets my attention. If I do not listen on his terms he will get frustrated. As a dad I try to allow him to communicate his needs the best way he can. In order for me to truly hear his needs I must slow down, enter his world, take as much time as he needs and listen. When this happens his excitement for life is re-energized because his needs were listened to and met. What kind of dad would I be if I didn’t listen to his needs?
When dealing with college age people remember to listen to their needs:
– slow down
– enter their world
– take as much time as they need
